PBS says this allegation shows the opposition party is desperate for attention.
PBS executive secretary Mesilus Roman, in a statement today, insisted the party’s Membakut division was still intact and operational.
“At the Membakut division, it is business as usual under the leadership of division chief Runtian Medan,” said Roman.
“A recent news report claiming that PBS’ Membakut division has been dissolved following the exit of its division chief Egol Onsim is not true.
“He (Egol) is the former division chief.
“So, by right, he has no locus standi to dissolve the Membakut division.
“Obviously, it is just another tactic to confuse the people as if PBS is losing support.”
A recent news report stated that Egol had led more than 1,000 members, including those from the women and youth wings, to ditch PBS to join Warisan.
They reportedly handed over their membership application forms to Warisan president Shafie Apdal, during a gathering in Membakut.
“Such a claim shows that Warisan is desperate for attention,” said Roman.
“And they are willing to make fake allegations to get attention. What’s important for them is quantity, not quality.”
Roman called on PBS members to continue supporting the party, and not to be enticed by the ‘too-good-to-be-true’ offers from the opposition.
“PBS has not deviated from its core struggles — that is to protect the rights of Sabah and Sabahans.”
PBS is a member of the ruling coalition Barisan Nasional while Warisan is a standalone opposition party.
Both parties have been at loggerheads, with Warisan claiming PBS has been losing the trust and support of its members.
PBS has denied this and accused the opposition party of being a tale spinner.
