MCA DID NOT LURE INTO DAP’S BEER FESTIVAL PLOY

Share This:

Despite representing the Chinese community and serving alcohol is part of their culture in celebrations for victories or other welcoming, MCA adhered by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) decision to reject the Better Beer Festival 2017 gracefully without any further objection when public safety is concerned.

MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has confirmed the party’s decision during the Cabinet meeting and satisfied with the police grounds based on safety factors. As a political party which is part of the ruling government, public safety will always be the priority, hence for that reason, MCA has no qualms to the rejection.

This distinctly shows that MCA knows how to appreciate and respect other component allies in Barisan Nasional that the sensitivities of peers’ religions and cultures are paramount and in particular from UMNO.

Unlike what is being practised in Pakatan Harapan when DAP is evidently paying no respect to Dr Mahathir’s party that comprises of Malay and Muslim members and those in PKR and PAN too.

In the opposition bloc, only PAS has been very vocal to oppose against the beer fest which is originated from Germany that the festival is four years once celebration. Strangely enough that the Malay based party in Pakatan Harapan such as PPBM and PAN have shown no sign to join efforts. Even though their members are all Muslims, it is either they are not bothered or as usual, DAP has overruled the situation.

The festival cancellation is not merely based on multi-religion or multi-culture constraints. The need to liken or absorb western culture into our eastern way of life is truly unnecessary and unhealthy. As it is, we are rich in our culture that is more than sufficient to attract foreign tourists.

Thus, giving the excuse that this festival cancellation is able to reduce the attraction of foreign tourists is just DAP’s political ploy and indeed unreasonable.

It is even more daunting when the DAP leaders started to spin DBKL actions by giving the impression that the Barisan Nasional government will forbid liquor to public in the near future to suppress the non-Muslims rights.

When a festival is served with liquor, not everyone will stay sober at all times and what more if it is the main course. Someone surely will get drunk and eventually things will get out of hands. Is DAP capable of controlling the beers consumed and ensure that they stay sober till the end? What if these drunken drive home, can DAP ensure their safety? Which is more valuable to DAP, the festival or their lives?

DAP is eager to garner votes from the Malays but conveniently lacking in their respect and sensitivities towards the Malay plights. This makes the significant difference between them and MCA who not only understands the will of the Malays and Muslims but MCA respects in the true sense too.

Since it is forbidden in Kuala Lumpur and DAP is overly eager to pursue the festival, why not hold the festival in the opposition-led states in Selangor or perhaps Penang? If this is not DAP’s plan to drag MCA into their dirty political ploy, what would DAP even bother to get involved?
