PETALING JAYA: The Estonian trade delegation’s “improper conduct” at a bar in Kuala Lumpur last month has landed the team in trouble.

This led to Estonia’s former prime minister Taavi Roivas, apologising for the improper conduct of delegation members, The Star Online reported.

Roivas admitted that there had been complaints about him, according to Estonian portal err.ee.

He apologised “personally and in the name of all of the delegation”. He also apologised to his wife and children.

The portal said Roivas was leading a trade delegation for 10 days to Singapore and Malaysia from Sept 18.

The Baltic News Service reported that four ministers in the Estonian government wanted those in the trade delegation to explain themselves.

The portal said “improper conduct” at the bar last month was first reported in the daily Eesti Päevaleht Thursday morning. It happened after the conclusion of trade business.

It reported that several delegation members, including Riigikogu’s deputy speaker and Roivas, allegedly behaved improperly towards the women present.

It said Prime Minister Jüri Ratas denied that during foreign visits he had taken part in, such parties had taken place.

“In this case those who went there have to give clear and specific answers,” he said.
