NEW DELHI: Popular Bollywood actress Sridevi died after drowning in the bathtub of her hotel room in Dubai, a newspaper reported.
Sridevi, aged 54, died in Dubai on Saturday and initial Indian media reports said she suffered a cardiac arrest.
“The investigation is still going on to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident as the forensic report only says that she drowned,” Dubai-based daily Gulf News quoted an unnamed official as saying.
Traces of alcohol were found in her body, according to the forensic findings.
Sridevi delivered many super hit movies in the 1980s and enjoys a mass following in India.
She was married to movie producer Boney Kapoor.
The actress was visiting the United Arab Emirates to attend the wedding of her nephew and actor Mohit Marwah.
