GEORGE TOWN: A female journalist lost over RM5,000 and was left traumatised after being injured by two men who robbed her at Taman Impian Indah, Machang Bubok in Bukit Mertajam near here, yesterday.

Lee Pei Pei, 36, a Chinese daily reporter, said two men on a motorcycle stopped on the left side of her car and smashed the front passenger side window before grabbing her handbag which was placed on the front passenger seat.

“The incident happened at about noon when I was on my way to work.

“I tried to pull back my bag and there was a struggle… the man punched my face and hurt my left hand with shards of glass from the broken window,” she said here, today.

She said the bag contained RM3,000, two mobile phones, as well as various personal items and documents.

Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan said the investigation was ongoing and the police did not rule out the possibility of the crime being carried out by two men who were wanted for snatch thefts in the area.
