WHO OBVIOUSLY CONTRIBUTED TO MALAYSIA CORRUPTION INDEX WORST PERFORMANCE?

Share This:

A statement by Transparency International Malaysia President Datuk Akhbar Satar said the Malaysian Corruption Index declined ostensibly in the wake of the issues involving high-profile cases and in particular the 1MDB, Felda and Rafizi Ramli’s arrest in his case disclosing NFC personal account information. Is that all?

Wthy are Akhbar Satar’s high profile case does not include the Penang DAP-Chief Minister who is now facing court charges on two counts of corruption as well as abuse of power under Section 23 of the MACC 2009 and Section 165 of the Penal Code? They are apparent corruption cases of Guan Eng’s bungalow scandal in the opposition state and by the opposition leader which received widespread media coverage from within and abroad. Are the opposition leaders and states deliberately excluded by Akhbar Satar?

When this Transparency International-Malaysia Chairman Akhbar Satar deliberately did not mention the cases of corruption prevailing in the opposition states and are now prosecuted in court, should we not question his honesty and are his justifications reliable?

Unlike 1MDB issue, there is no court prosecution at all.

In fact, thorough and comprehensive investigations were conducted by MACC, the police, Bank Negara and finally by PAC who concluded that the financial mismanagement in the organisation does not involve PM Najib Razak. Evidently, even there were complains forward to the US Attorney General, until this very hour, no prosecution is taken.

No doubt there is media coverage from local and abroad but Malaysians are wise enough to understand those are mere will allegations without a single hard evidence provided except fictitious write-ups and baseless accusations for the opposition ill-intended political strategies.

With boldness, PM Najib’s leadership government has established the Royal Commission Inquiry (RCI), investigating the Bank Negara reserve loss scandal of more than RM30 billion in forex. The most massive financial loss scandal in the history of the country has involved the Pakatan Harapan Chairman Dr Mahathir when he was the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Then again followed with DAP-led Penang undersea tunnel scandal in Penang which is being investigated by MACC, in which the state government is said to have paid more than RM300 million just for a dubious study paper report. Strangely, since 2013 until now, nothing is done even though payment has been settled.

In Selangor, numerous investigations and arrests involving the Chief Minister’s officials were carried out involving cases of corruption and abuse of power. Last but not least, the scandal of settlers’ land in Ijok is under investigation by the MACC.

Indeed when cases involving the Chief Minister and his aides plus Pakatan Harapan’s Top Dog’s forex scandal, these will definitely decline in the rakyat and foreigners perception. However, Akhbar Satar’s assumptions contradict Malaysia’s foreign investments index as the renowned world agencies have graded to the highest height for our economic performances and the best in Asia region.

It is best that Akhbar Satar to be more realistic and truthful to himself rather than portraying as the opposition’s mouthpiece.
