Chief minister pays tribute to the late Sabah minister who helped to improve the ICT sector throughout the state.
KOTA KINABALU: In his tribute to the late Siringan Gubat, Chief Minister Musa Aman said the Sabah resource development and information technology minister was responsible for enhancing Sabah’s human capital.
Siringan, 68, was pronounced dead just before midnight last night after he was hospitalised with breathing difficulties.
“Today, we are saddened by the passing of another close friend in the government, who was a good leader and a dedicated, committed and responsible state minister and assemblyman,” said Musa in a statement today.
“He had helped to enhance the state’s human capital by providing skills training and employment opportunities as well as improving the ICT sector throughout Sabah.
“On behalf of the state government, Sabah BN and our families, I’d like to express our deepest and sincerest condolences to his family.
“We hope that his loved ones will remain strong during this most difficult time.”
The Upko acting deputy president died at the Sabah Gleneagles Hospital in Kota Kinabalu. He is believed to have suffered a heart attack.
Siringan, who was Paginatan assemblyman, was also Ranau MP from 2008 to 2013.
He was also hospitalised last February after suffering a heart attack.
The death of Siringan comes soon after the passing of Sabah youth and sports minister-cum-Apas assemblyman Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan.
The 56-year-old Tawfiq had been receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur for the past nine months.
