It expects next financial year to feature a few major sporting events and anticipates content costs to increase.
KUALA LUMPUR: Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd’s net profit for the fourth quarter ended Jan 31, 2018 rose to RM180.6 million from RM143 million in the same quarter last year.
Revenue for the quarter, however, decreased to RM1.38 million from RM1.39 million previously.
“The lower revenue is due to a decrease in subscription revenue, offset by higher merchandise sales, advertising and production revenue,” it said in filing to Bursa Malaysia today.
On prospects, Astro said the next financial year would feature a few major sporting events and it expected content costs to increase.
“We continue to be the home of sports and judiciously manage content costs by applying our conservative hedging policy while relentlessly optimising other costs to serve our customers.”
It said the group would continue to remain cash generative and focus on investing in its growth strategy.
