If you listen to Dr Mahathir’s latest mocks at Forest City Johor as if the Johor state government is really foolish to allow the state land to be exhausted given to foreigners and as if this is an injustice committed by PM Najib’s administration to the people. While taking advantage to belittle the Barisan Nasional government in his speech during PPBM’s inaugural AGM, to Dr Mahathir, Forest City Johor will end up filled with monkeys and baboons.
It is even more absurd when Muhyiddin and Dr Shaharuddin were seen cheering when the people of Johor knew that all the prime land in Johor Bahru were sold when Muhyiddin was the Chief Minister, either to a crony or a Singapore-owned company. For instance, Mount Austin and Kemayan City but now there is only the beaches and rivers such as Danga Bay.
Is Muhyiddin not aware that Dr Mahathir is also teasing him that the actual monkeys and baboons have now fled to Pagoh?
What exactly is Forest City? It is obvious that the 4 islands existed from reclamation and not within Johor mainland. In fact, Dr Mahathir knew very well that the man-made islands comprise of only a land area of 1,385.6ha or 0.01% from the total state of Johor. Yet, Dr Mahathir continues his naive attack.
Johor government has made them clear numerously in the past that the assets such as condominiums possessed by foreigners, it only involves strata-title assets purchase on the reclamation land and how could it affect Johor sovereignty or perhaps Johor land sold to foreigners? Supposedly a simple parable to Temasek sold to the British and now has become Singapore that is no longer a state-owned and it was maliciously likened to the man-made Forest City islands.
Unlike the sale of Singapore centuries ago, no sovereignty rights had been ceded to Forest City. The entire Forest City is still under the state government and its laws – including the land acquisition act which allows the Johor government to seize back the land at any time it is needed.
All of Dr Mahathir’s accusations were maliciously intended, not only to prove that he is anti-establishment but in actual fact, he is attempting to restrain the rakyat’s right from enjoying developments in Forest City in the future.
As if Dr Mahathir is not aware that Johor is unlike other states in Malaysia who have no other natural resources than to generate developments in the state which ultimately benefits the people?
It will not be too exaggerated if we wonder whether Dr Mahathir would prefer Singapore rather than Johor government to develop the Forest City. What if Singapore grabs all the opportunities first and what is left for Johor?
Cheap publicities with unfounded issues seems his last straw not only to mislead the rakyat but significantly, the need to convince DAP is rather paramount. Forest City issues used to be DAP’s cup of tea and their hidden agenda is meant to serve Singapore. Hence, where is the bottom line of ‘Saving Malaysia’?
