AG confirms receiving investigation paper on Felda land issue

Apandi-Ali-feldaKUALA LUMPUR: Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali has confirmed the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has received the investigation paper (IP) on the transfer of Felda land in Jalan Semarak here.

Stating that the IP was submitted to the prosecution division head yesterday, he said he was briefed on the matter today.

Explaining further, he said the IP was referred to the AGC for certain specific instructions which could not be disclosed.

“Nevertheless, I must correct the misconception that the police investigation into the matter has been completed… far from it.

“It is incorrect to say police are awaiting our instructions to prefer charges or otherwise, since the investigation into the matter is still ongoing and has not been completed,” he said in a WhatsÁpp message.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun told reporters that investigations into the Felda Jalan Semarak land deal had been completed and police were ready to submit the IP on the transfer of Felda land to the AGC.

The RM200 million land transfer is believed to have occurred when Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC) appointed a local company as the primary developer on June 3, 2014, and it was given full power of attorney to develop the land.

Earlier this month, police recorded a statement from former Felda chairman Mohd Isa Samad as part of their probe into the land scandal.

It is learnt police had recorded statements from Felda’s board of directors as well as developer Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd, among others.

Last month, it was reported that Felda was at risk of losing ownership of its Jalan Semarak land in a 2015 “dubious deal”.

The land has since been handed back to Felda.
