Bomba and Klang Council look into explosion that hurt 14, including four children.
PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department is investigating the cause of the New Year’s Day fireworks accident at the Pandamaran Sports Complex in Port Klang.
There was an explosion at the fireworks that hurt 10 adults and four children.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, Mohd Sani Harul, said they have yet to determine the cause of the incident.
“The organiser of the event is the Klang Municipal Council (MPK), we should conclude our report on the incident in two weeks,” he told FMT.
MPK said in a statement said that it will set up a special team to investigate the fireworks incident.
MPK said that all 14 victims received outpatient treatment at the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah and were discharged this morning.
“MPK will bear the costs of their medical treatment and continue to follow up on the status of their recovery.”
MPK said the fireworks display, which is a yearly event, was attended by 15,000 visitors.
“During the programme there were police, fire and rescue department, civil defence and medical personnel on standby to ensure the safety of the visitors.”
