Police open investigation after confirming video clip of laser circumcision gone wrong did occur at a clinic in Cheras.
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed that the video clip that is going viral on social media showing a boy losing his penis while he was undergoing a laser circumcision procedure at a clinic in Cheras was true.
Kajang district police chief ACP Othman Nanyan who confirmed the matter said several witnesses had been summoned to have their statements recorded and to help investigations.
“No arrests have been made so far and the case is being investigated under Section 338 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt rashly or negligently by an act which endangers life or the personal safety of others.
“Offenders can be jailed for up to two years or fined up to RM2,000 or both, if convicted,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
Meanwhile, according to a report in The New Straits Times, the incident took place on Dec 20 at a clinic located in Taman Cheras Utama at about 8.15pm.
The father brought his 10-year-old son for the circumcision procedure.
It was during the surgery that the doctor, using a laser, had inadvertently sliced off the glans (head) of the boy’s penis.
The doctor and the father then rushed the boy to the Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM) in Bandar Tun Razak.
