Woman Dies, Two People Injured In Ipoh Fire
Pic: BernamaIPOH: A woman died and two other people were injured in a fire at a double-storey house in Taman Pertama here early today, police said.
Ipoh Police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said Lai Yee Leng, 26, died of smoke inhalation in the fire which occurred at 2.29am.
Another occupant of the house, a 36-year-old woman, and a 66-year-old man were injured in the legs and had been admitted to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.
"Both of them are unconscious after suffering from breathing difficulties," he told Bernama.
He said Lai's body was also brought to the hospital.
Sum said the police were awaiting the result of a forensic test by the Fire and Rescue Department to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Lai's father, Lai Charm Chor, 66, told reporters at the hospital that he was informed of his daughter's death by a son at about 9am.
"The last time I met her was several days ago when she came to my house in Taman Cempaka," he said.
