With 1 state seat and 1 federal seat from GE14, PBRS president Joseph Kurup says it has applied to become part of Pakatan Harapan.
KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) has become the third Sabah-based party to leave Barisan Nasional (BN).
PBRS president Joseph Kurup said the party decided to quit BN about the same time as its former BN counterpart Upko yesterday but had only made the announcement public after getting the greenlight from its supreme council.
“We are leaving BN because if we stay, we will not be able to serve our people in the best way possible.
“We have already applied to become a member of the Pakatan Harapan coalition. By joining PH, we can provide what we promised to the rakyat,” Kurup said.
Aside from Upko and PBRS, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) had also declared its intention to leave BN and join PH earlier today.
Kurup said he was confident there would be no problem with PBRS’ application to join the new ruling federal coalition.
“I have already spoken to the top leadership at PH and they have said ‘you are most welcome (to join)’,” he said.
