PETALING JAYA: The eight safes at Seri Perdana, the official residence of former prime minister Najib Razak in Putrajaya, were successfully opened yesterday.
Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Amar Singh Ishar Singh confirmed with NST Online that the vaults were successfully opened with the help of two locksmiths yesterday after toiling for several hours.
The report said the eight safes did not contain valuables or money.
Police have been looking for evidence in connection with their investigation into wrongdoings at the 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) state investment fund.
Earlier, a safe in Najib’s home in Taman Duta, was cracked open but found to contain a small amount of old notes in foreign currency. Najib had said the safe was last opened 20 years ago and was abandoned as the key was lost.
It also contained several documents, including the marriage certificate of the former prime minister and Rosmah Mansor.
