PEKAN: The prime minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor has reminded Wanita Umno’s “Jalinan Rakyat” (JR) machinery, especially in Pekan, to control their emotions and be strong in facing the challenges of the 14th general election (GE14).
She said no matter how tired and how bad they were tested by the opposition, the JR machinery members must stay strong and not reveal their weaknesses in front of their opponents.
“Most importantly, we must stay strong and control our emotions, or else people will ridicule us. Datuk Najib’s advice to me is not to show a sad or an unhappy face in front of people. That’s what makes me strong until today.
“As women, we have to show that we are strong. Don’t cry in front of the enemies because that is exactly what they want. They want to see us cry,” she said at the launch of Pekan Wanita Umno JR Workers at the DRB-Hicom University here today.
Meanwhile, Rosmah said the Wanita Umno JR machinery was not just bridging the leaders and the people, but also playing an important role in countering false and baseless allegations hurled by the opposition.
“We all know that various issues had been manipulated by the opposition with the aim to weaken the Barisan Nasional (BN) in view of the GE14. So, the JR machinery must play its role in explaining the issues to the people, so that the people know what is right and what is wrong,” she said.
‘Female warriors’
Rosmah also said that she was confident that the Pekan JR machinery was already in a full state of preparedness, executing their strategies and implementing various programmes to ensure that the Pekan parliamentary seat and all its state seats will remain under BN.
“I am proud with the efforts undertaken by these female warriors who had been working hard to meet with the voters in each constituency by making house-to-house visits to locate and register new voters,” she said.
She also called on the Pekan Wanita Umno JR machinery to intensify efforts to achieve the target of over 40,000-vote majority for Najib in GE14, compared with the 35,613-vote majority he garnered in the 2013 general election.
The event participated by almost 3,000 members of Pekan Wanita Umno JR machinery was also attended by Pahang Wanita Umno chief Roslin Abdul Rahman and Pekan Wanita Umno division chief Zalmah Abdul Rahman.
