Now that action has been taken against the Umno man, authorities throughout the country should start acting against all illegal activities in their respective backyards.

Jamal Yunos’s antics are just too interesting to overlook.
In jest, perhaps it was a good thing that the Sabak Bernam District Council tore down his “illegal” hotel. At least it has brought into the open, the state of the country in general and Sekinchan in particular.
To Jamal, it is not
There is a saying, “he who comes into equity must come with clean hands”. That applies to Jamal, too.
But never mind, I believe there is some good coming out of this whole episode. I am assuming the reports about Jamal and the hotel are true.
Why did the council take so long to take action against Jamal’s illegal hotel? When it comes to gambling dens and massage parlours, are these activities also under the purview of the federal police?
I hope Jamal understands that his fight is not just against the Sabak Bernam council, but against illegal activities in Sekinchan, over which other authorities, such as the police, also have jurisdiction.
It is best that he reports the illegal activities to the right authorities instead of taking matters into his own hands. He must understand he is not dealing with Bersih activists any longer.
According to Jamal, there are nine illegal gambling dens and 40 massage parlours and karaoke joints in Sekinchan alone. Are these small numbers or big numbers for a town like Sekinchan? Is Sekinchan a “representative” town of illegal activities across Malaysia today?
With politicians now engaging in endless feuds, it is probable that bureaucrats and enforcement agencies are having a field day colluding with the bad hats.
There is one positive outcome from Jamal’s illegal hotel episode and the council’s action after all since we are now willing to talk openly about illegal activities that most have preferred in the past to pretend never existed.
With action taken against Jamal, I hope the authorities (federal, state and municipal) throughout the country, will start looking at their own backyards.
Fair and square: clean hands for Jamal, clean hands for all municipal councils and the police. What say you?
