Checks around Putrajaya showed that residents here were now making comparisons with other supermarkets and hypermarkets to be able to save money.
Zainor Lela Mohamad Zaini, 30, said her family was buying items such as packets of rice, condensed milk, all kinds of bread and diapers for children at KR1M.
“The prices of these things are lower compared to other places,” she told New Straits Times yesterday.
However, she hoped for better choice at KR1M.
“I think choices are lacking compared to supermarkets and hypermarkets.
“The government should do something about this since as many people are opting to shop in KR1M,” the housewife said.
The government has also made several moves to address the higher cost of living which is affecting mainly the bottom40 (B40) and middle40 (M40) group.
Among the initiatives was the introduction of Addressing the Rising Cost of Living National Key Results Area (COL NKRA) and the recent High Level Committee (HLC) meeting, mooted to address people’s grouses on the price hike.
Public servant, Fazly Aripin, 36, opined that more KR1M outlets should be established with wider accessibility.
“I have to travel from Presint 9 to Presint 16 just to get cheaper groceries, therefore, I hope the government will look into providing more shops at close range,” he added. something about this since many people are opting to shop in KR1M," the housewife said.
