PETALING JAYA: A DAP lawmaker has challenged Red Shirts leader Jamal Yunos to declare the number of Approved Permits (AP) he has received from the government .

Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng yesterday claimed that Jamal’s company, IBM Automobiles Sdn Bhd, was awarded APs by the international trade and industry ministry, which allows him to import private and commercial vehicles.

“What’s so special about Jamal that he gets preferential treatment from the federal government in the awarding of APs?” Lim asked, demanding for an explanation from the ministry.

Last week, Jamal’s Sekin Fishermen Village Hotel & Resort in Sekinchan was demolished by the Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB), as he was found to be operating the hotel without a licence.

Jamal, however, alleged that the demolition order was an act of revenge by Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, over the Sungai Besar Umno division chief’s “towel protest” outside the state secretariat building the day before the demolition took place.

It was also previously reported that Jamal had accused the state government of preferential treatment after it awarded a business license to the woman behind the “nasi lemak anak dara” stall, Siti Hajjar Ahmad.

Siti was one of the exemplary Malaysians mentioned by name during Prime Minister Najib Razak’s Budget 2017 speech in October.

Lim explained that Siti had obtained an application form to get a business licence from Azmin, when the state MB visited her stall.

“She duly complied with all the requirements and agreed to the terms and conditions when making the application, so she was naturally approved to run her business,” Lim said.

“In contrast, Jamal has repeatedly ignored orders and other requests sent to him by the local authority (MDSB), hence his resort had been operating illegally.”
