Najib Wants Kuantan Hospital Airconditioning Problem Rectified

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Friday instructed the Health Ministry to immediately rectify the air-conditioning problem at the Intensive Care Unit of the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan.

He said he noted from a report in the Star newspaper today about the situation at the ICU of the hospital.

“The Health Ministry, (Health Minister) Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam, (Director General of Health) Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, please investigate the matter immediately and take interim measures to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” he said in a post on his Facebook account.

The newspaper reported that the air-conditioning system at the ICU was not functioning, windows were kept open to allow air circulation and stand fans were used to keep patients comfortable and the equipment from heating up.

It said the hospital staff were forced to work in hot conditions.

The newspaper quoted Pahang Director of Health Datuk Dr Zainal Ariffin Omar as saying the air-conditioning system had not been functioning for the past three months.
