He spends RM10,000 to ensure his fiance has unforgettable memory to cherish.
PETALING JAYA: An optical shop assistant spent RM10,000 over six months to plan a dramatic scene at the Sultan Azlan Shah airport in Ipoh to surprise his girlfriend before asking for her hand in marriage yesterday.
Cheung Chan Choon, 30, planned an elaborate ruse to catch her by surpise as they were preparing to board a plane for a Christmas holiday in Singapore.
It included him being “detained” by police officers at the airport for possessing an illegal substance.
While he was being taken away, Yew Kar Yee, 20, was told by another officer to remain seated and calm down as she saw him being led away, The Star reported.
A short while later, Cheung returned dressed as a pilot, holding a bouquet of flowers and a ring, accompanied by a music band.
The crowd which witnessed the scene burst into applause when Cheung knelt down to propose and Yew quickly nodded.
According to The Star, Cheung spent RM10,000 on the proposal which he had been planning since June.
“And it was worth it. I want her to have an unforgettable memory to cherish for the rest of her life,” he said, adding that they would probably tie the knot in a year’s time.
