Mas Ermieyati cited the examples of Prime Minister Najib Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as leaders who were compassionate towards their political foes.
“Even as the opposition hurled one baseless accusation after another, they (Najib and Zahid) marched on. This is something that we ought to inculcate within us so it will bloom in time,” Malay Mail Online quoted her as saying.
Mas Ermieyati pointed out that Najib and Zahid had visited Pakatan Harapan de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim in hospital recently.
She said they also did not hesitate to send aid to flood-hit Penang although the state was not under BN.
Mas Ermieyati, however, reminded party members to be cautious when dealing with the opposition.
“In our endeavours, ensure we are capable of countering the opposition’s attacks. Never underestimate them, with their cunning and willingness to adopt any means for their ends,” she was quoted as saying.
