“I just want to do my work with integrity and professionally.
“As long as our decisions are transparent and open, (we have) nothing to worry about. That is our policy,” Azmin told reporters, NST Online reported.
Azmin’s nephew and three others have been remanded for seven days. They are suspected of involvement in illegal sand and gravel mining activities in the state.
MACC has frozen RM4 million in several bank accounts belonging to a mining company, which has operated since 2014.
Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, told the newspaper that MACC must substantiate its claim that the sand mining company had bribed the Kajang Municipal Council to “close an eye” to illegal activities.
“They have to prove it. We have been very transparent in the process since 2008.
“You can see from the state revenue that it has increased tremendously compared to before 2008.
“That is a clear evidence that the whole process is so transparent and we can even increase the revenue for the state. I can provide you with all the facts.”
The report said Azmin repeated his claim that MACC’s probe was politically motivated.
MACC chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad yesterday said the agency was being professional in undertaking its duties.
“We took action based on a report that had been lodged. The information provided was sufficient for us to start investigations.
“There is no political influence or sabotage.”
