He says Umno is singling out DAP because it is easy to bully the party.
He said Umno was merely trying to divert attention from more important issues concerning the rakyat.
“DAP is only one of the four component parties in Pakatan Harapan but, of course, they will single out DAP because it is easy to bully us.
“We are willing to face these challenges. Of course, we feel Malaysians need to stand up to change the government to stop bullying and arrogance from BN and Umno.
“So, in the next election, it is not Umno against DAP, but Umno up against the people of Malaysia,” he said in response to a question by a reporter at Komtar today.
The notion of DAP vs Umno was from Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, who declared a jihad against the opposition.
She poured scorn on DAP during the Umno general assembly in Kuala Lumpur this morning, painting a doomsday fate for the country if the opposition comes to power.
“On one side, you have (Umno president) Najib Razak and the BN leadership, which we know so well.
“On the other, a government led by DAP. Are Malaysians willing to surrender the country that we have built for so many years to chauvinist leaders?
“So, there are two choices, a BN led by Najib or an opposition led by Lim Kit Siang. Are we willing to see that happen?” Shahrizat asked during her keynote address today.
DAP won the most number of parliamentary seats under the opposition Pakatan Rakyat pact in the 13th general election in 2013.
Since then, DAP has often been made the bogeyman for the Malays by BN, with Umno saying this would undermine the role of the Malays if the opposition comes to power in the next polls.
