Shahidan: Felda land issue won’t affect BN’s GE14 preparations

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim says government will be able to resolve issue without undermining credibility of Barisan Nasional.

Shahidan-Kassim-feldaKUALA LUMPUR: The investigation into the transfer of land belonging to Felda in Jalan Semarak will not affect the preparations for the 14th general election (GE14), according to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Shahidan Kassim.

He said he was also confident that all the issues and problems faced by Felda had been and would be resolved by the government in a good manner without undermining the credibility of Barisan Nasional (BN).

“I don’t think there is a problem here. I will support whatever decision made by the government (on the issue).

“We have to remember that whatever the problem is, the government will be able to solve it well. We will face the GE14 and we are ready. We are banking on love in our approach, not abusing with words and hurling lies,” he said.

Shahidan said this to reporters at the Federal Territories Christmas Open House at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Square yesterday.

Also present were Deputy Federal Territories Minister Loga Bala Mohan and MyPPP president, M Kayveas.

On Dec 21, the media had reported that Felda was at risk of losing more than RM200 million from its prime land in Jalan Semarak, due to a dubious transfer of ownership.

The land title transfer was believed to have occurred after Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) appointed a local company as the main developer on June 3, 2014, and awarded it full power of attorney to develop the land.

Following this, the police set up a special task force to investigate the matter and said it would call up former Felda chairman, Mohd Isa Abdul Samad to assist in the investigation. Isa was also FIC chairman at the time the developer was appointed.
