PETALING JAYA: Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Zambry Abd Kadir said the appointment of Ahmad Faizal Azumu as the menteri besar would end political stalemate in the state following the polls last Wednesday.

The former MB said BN welcomed the development in the interest of stability.

“Perak must be administrated and not be left hanging,” he said in a video posted on Facebook.

Ahmad Faizal took his oath of office in the presence of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, today.

PH won 29 seats in GE14, one short of the 30 required to form a simple majority in the state legislature.

However, two BN assemblymen defected to PH today, ensuring a simple majority to form the government.

BN and PAS each has 25 and three seats respectively in the state legislature.

Zambry said he also accepted the decision of the duo from BN to defect.

“We accept this but we will rise again, and we will correct our weaknesses and continue to serve the people,” he said.

“We have to now become a responsible opposition in the state for the people,” he added.
