TAWAU: Tawau Umno vice-chairman Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan took opposition leaders to task for claiming that Barisan Nasional (BN) has not developed Sabah.

The chief political secretary to Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman said the opposition only wanted to win the people’s sympathy ahead of the general election.

He said Sabah’s poverty rate in 2009 was recorded at 19.7% but dropped to 2.7% in 2016.

“The reason for our poverty rate declining is because Sabah is on the right track under the leadership of the Barisan Nasional government and Musa Aman.

“BN has implemented various initiatives to help reduce the poverty rate among the people, including the provision of communal grants for the people,” he said during at an event here.
