R Nishalini, 18, is accused of using criminal force to cause injury to the ears and cheeks of a four-year-old boy.
R Nishalini, 18, claimed trial to the charge which was read before Magistrate Nor Afidah Idris.
She faced a charge of using criminal force with intent to cause injury to the ears and cheeks of Looi Qee Shine, four, at a kindergarten in Taman Damai Indah here at 4.30pm on Oct 31.
The charge, under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries up to one year’s jail or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Megat Mahathir Megat Tharih Afendi offered RM5,000 bail in one surety.
Nishalini, who was unrepresented, appealed for a reduced bail on the grounds that she was currently unemployed.
Nor Afidah set bail at RM3,000 in one surety and fixed Jan 9 for mention of the case, pending outcome of the medical report, appointment of counsel and submission of documents.
It was reported that the alleged victim was slapped by his teacher for refusing to write, and when brought for an initial check-up at the Kajang Hospital, was found with injuries to the cheeks and ears.
