Husam: Cops haven’t briefed me on son’s arrest for meth pills

husam-arrestPETALING JAYA: Amanah vice-president Husam Musa said police had not briefed him on the arrest of his son, Ahmad Syafi, for alleged possession of 200 methamphetamine pills (pill kuda).

Husam said he only learned that his son had been arrested by the police through a friend.

“I only learned that my son Ahmad Syafi was remanded at the Kota Bharu court on charges of possession of drugs at 5.22pm today when someone sent me a screenshot of a Malaysiakini report through WhatsApp.

“Until now there has been no official information from the police regarding the arrest.

“There has also not been any information from the police that he was brought to court this morning for remand.

“I also do not know until now where my son was arrested,” he said in a post on his Facebook page.

The Salor assemblyman said his neighbour had informed him that his son was arrested yesterday evening.

He added that he will release a full statement once he had all the information from the police and was allowed to see his son.

Kota Bharu district police chief ACP Ismail Mat Sidik was reported by Harian Metro to have confirmed that a 29-year-old suspect was arrested around 3.30pm yesterday.

He said the man was arrested in front of a house on Jalan Pasir Mas-Salor yesterday.

He added there was a struggle between the suspect and a team from the Kota Bharu Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department before he was arrested.

“The suspect was brought to the Kota Bharu court to obtain a four-day remand order starting today and ending on Wednesday.

“The man was arrested to facilitate investigations under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he was reported as saying.
